It also goes into a low-power mode when the camera goes into sleep mode - where the light blinks once every 10 seconds. I'm not sure how "low" this low-power mode really is. I had a half-full battery in the late afternoon and forgot to turn the GPS off when I was done shooting for the day. The next morning the battery was nearly dead. That's the only annoyance I've had.I think it tags elevation as well...
