The king of meteor showers peaks tonight with upto 120 brightly coloured meteors per hour in a dark location. So if you have clear skies it be worth a look outside. Best viewed after midnight but with clouds coming in later I'm heading out earlier. Last year I saw a big fireball cover nearly the whole sky and explode into smaller fragments which was pretty awesome.

Should be excellent, but I think we cannot view it in Australia.

Went out at 8.30pm to beat the clouds and saw 5 really bright ones from my back garden. Can't really call it a Dark Site but you can see the Milky Way with the naked eye. If I didn't have my children over for the weekend I would have been down by the tidal river. It's dark down there :)

Saw one very bright one as I was setting up, and I missed it. Took a few 30 sec exposures. Holy smokes! I got a lot in one shot....but something just didn't look right.
Note to self - remember to secure tripod head. Weight of the camera caused it to slowly move down, causing this effect.
Clouds moved in. Got nothing.

Well I went out and braved the bugs and looked for some meteors. I managed to see a few but some idiot left the 16-35 at 31mm mmmm.
