Something else you can try is to put the body into
Mirror Up. That is typically done to clean the sensor. Remove the lens and put the body front down on a table. Follow the directions to put your D7000 into
Mirror Up mode. Keeping the opening where the sensor is located pointed down to the ground, hold it up over your head so you can see inside. Move it around keeping the opening pointed down to prevent dust from getting inside. See if you notice anything.
Mirror Up is basically the same position as
Live View except the sensor isn't engaged. Go to 1:30 in the video where it gives directions on how to turn on
Mirror Up.
NOTE: Usually your battery needs to be at least 50%. If not, you won't be able to put the body into
Mirror Up.
