I guess I'm a bit late for the news, I'm sorry to say. Hopefully, Sony could benefit from using Oly's lens design expertise to improve their lens park... :) Because when I look at the Sony A6000, the "kit" lens looks just horrible.

What's so "horrible" about it?

That's the stuff that keeps customer's happy! Apple is the master of the mix... new features, but SOME require the new phone. (plus the newer/faster/prettier aspect will always generate business with the tech-head portion of your loyal customers) Would LOVE Nikon to follow that model!

Just a little disclaimer about the 1/32000 shutter speed: You will not be able to use flash and it is not advised to use it with fast moving subjects. The whole idea behind it, is to be able to use Fuji's primes wide open in very bright light (Fuji has primes with max aperture of f/1.2). This "issue" was discussed on some Fuji forums and i have even come across it myself. On a bright day, when you try to shoot wide open, your shutter speed max's out (1/4000 being the fastest on the XP1). One way to remedy this, was to use an ND filter (which the X100 has built-in). Anyhow, Fuji was listening to all those folks on forums - they actually do listen. You would not believe how many firmware updates run parallel to what people had been discussing on Fuji forums months before.

When you look at the Olympus lenses side by side with the Sonys, the Olys are so much nicer. And from what I've heard so much sharper too. I remember a friend who had a Olympus half-frame SLR and the small lenses he had on it were just Fantastically sharp.

When I made my big "switch" it was for size/glass, present and future. Hopefully the two companies will benefit from each others, well... company :)

On this we'll have to agree to disagree. "Pretty much the same" isn't the same, and neither is essentially the same. And it's sort of hard to improve on physical ergonomics or add an articulating screen via firmware.

You're right Jake....they have gotten lighter...they don't include the plastic flash rail protector any more. lol Just kidding....I know they have changed the body to make it lighter, and I forgot about the articulating screen. It would have been cool if it was fully articulating the way the D5100's did. Sorry for picking on you, you're the expert and have the newest camera.

It seems Sony has pumped a ton of money into other divisions of Oly. Now Sony comes out with a version of Oly's EM-1's 5 axis IBIS (notice how they market is as the first 5 axis stabilization on a full frame camera), what ever it takes to stay alive is fine with me! :)

I didn't realize that Sony was a majority owner in Olympus. But, I have to think that Sony's imagineers have developed their own version of IBIS. That being said, though, it IS going down the same road that Oly did by implementing it on their newest release. By improving the autofocus, and implementing the IBIS, they have paved the way for their A series bodies.
