The USA lenses are warrantied up to 5 years excluding impact damage. Pro guys like you tend to use your equipment more but i can't see myself without one. They are my must have lenses.

You are absolutely correct. they are a MUST have. and more than that, there are no other comparable options. the tamron is great, not stellar. IMO they should have concentrated on IQ not the VC. the nikon 28-70 is the only alternative thats closest to IQ of the 24-70. the 24-70 is a great lens, but my friend who owns it says its his least used lens. and its true, he hardly uses it. usually I see him with the 17-35/14-24 and 70-200 combo or a WA and a prime 50 1.4g/85 1.8g/105VR and once in a while he brings out the 135dc. I have a different role when we do weddings together. so I have no choice but to use my zooms.

youre right about the 5 years, but his was just a bit over that but since we live overseas (not US) its only 3 years. he did buy another already. on tuesday ill take a short vid to show what a lens thats 5 years old looks like. I also want to take the 17-35 AFS and compare it to my tamron 17-35. if I have time.

before my jump back I had the 17-35/28-70/-80-200 AFS trio. gear that was made to last. the gear today is not to the same standards as then. also the rubbers on the focus zoom are just such low quality. I havent seen a single canon one get loose. maybe others have, but I havent and I work amongst pros.
