How many people download fonts other than what is installed on your computer or via Photoshop? This article showed up through Bryan Peterson's Facebook page: Using Custom Fonts for Special Projects - Online Photography School

There is a video on the page which tells about a web site called dafont.com that offers free fonts to download. Has anyone ever used fonts from this web site? DaFont - Download fonts

Or are there other web sites that offer decent fonts?

I have downloaded a couple of fonts in the past, but I don't remember what site it was from. I did it after watching a youtube video on doing something in GIMP. They used a font and told where they downloaded it from. I liked the font so I looked and downloaded it and one or two more. Ha!

Thanks, Walt. I only ever watched one video which was from Phlearn that used a font from a web site. I never downloaded the font though. Some of the fonts on this web site look interesting.

As a once and future typographer and letterpress printer, several hundreds, mostly classics and 19th century decorative faces and ornaments. In the old days on the alt.binary.fonts BB, you could get virtually anything just for asking. Today, tere are a bunch of sources for good quality fonts that are free for non-commercial use -- google is your friend.

The keys to good typography are care in selection and restraint in use: just because you can, doesn't mean you should.
