Focus Issue? What am I Missing?

Hello -

Today I was trying to get some sports shots at my daughters soccer came. Below is what my camera was set to. Attached is one of the pictures in question. My focus point was at the girl in the front wearing white and purple. As you can see both of them are blury. Is my camera not at a good setting? Did I miss something in the focusing? Thoughts and tips are always welcome. ;)

The thing is that you should see if the focus is correct when you shoot it. Especially when you are shooting a scene like this you are going to have to watch very close to make sure the correct area is in focus. I was shooing some softball pictures Monday and occasionally I would have a shot that would miss the batter and get the people in the background. I happens. Just be more careful

Thank you everyone for the tips...

When shooting sports shots in single spot or 3D Tracking I'm 70-80 % using the zoom lens who should and where should I place that focal point on?

For example in the soccer shot for the goalie running up to kick the ball. Start on the goalie in the middle or on their face and follow with continuous shot?

Or even like in the example above which girl would I focus on both or the girl in the front or just behind her and again on their face or jerseys?

Thank you again for the post you guys are making me look like I know what I’m doing… ha-ha
