I was at a friends lakelot this past weekend. My first outting since surgery. They have this nice flower pot with a bunch of flowers in it. I am not a botanist, so I could not tell you the types. Here it is.

Nice shot Dave. I like the composition in that the main subject is not right up front and nestled in with other flowers, also the color seems a little muted, but I like the look. Let me help you as far as the types, I see orange ones, white ones and yellow ones. Bet you're glad I was here to help!

Love the help with the flower types. I shot this one at 1:30 pm, so it was all harsh light, flattening out the colors. I did push the saturation some in PP.

Looks like a pretty decent photograph to me...nice colors and textures...maybe the foreground flowers are sort of crowding the main flower??? I don't really have a clue when it comes to flower photography. All of them sort of look good to me as long as they are in focus.

What are some of the qualities of a "good" flower shot? Should one use certain focal lengths generally speaking...maybe closeup lenses???

This is a really nice shot, Dave. I like the way the sun is throwing around all those shadows on the petals. Nice soft, muted colour, nice comp. This works.

ISO 800

It was breezy that day, so I wanted to freeze the motion using Shutter Priority, and the ISO set in manual.

I can't help but to notice that there were some noise on the piture just right on the top pedals of the flower and some of the background as i zoom your picture. maybe lower the ISO to around 400? but other wise great shot of the flower!!
