Flash bender L + Softbox vs Umbrellas

For studio, outdoor, indoor events, etc. Thoughts? Gary fong is a very picky cup of noodles; sb910's own diffuser still leaves HARSH light spots on some surfaces. I figure a good diffuser to use the most power/that can easily spread vertically too + a softbox to kill those shadows would be a good idea instead of umbrellas/stands to carry with me. Might grab another 565EX and call it a studio wrap until I learn how to use it enough.

That is a lot more than ~110 that could feed 2 flashes including a second flash. Is there that much of a difference?

I use the 24x24 Impact Quickbox's mounted on monopod's. Works pretty good. Of course your going to need someone to hold them. The other thing I've tried is shooting through a trigrip diffuser. Also works very well. Trying to use the speedlight with the small Tupperware and it's going to look like that's what you used. Only other thing you can do is bounce the light which also does a pretty good job. Umbrellas just throw light all over the place. Not very controllable.

Are flash stand bolts and cam tripod bolts different sized? I'd ideally want to re-use my tripod as a stand instead of having a whole another metal gimmick to haul around. Also, Quikbox doesn't become any smaller than say 24", right? Only flatter?

I think your right. Although I decided to chose the 24x24 because anything smaller will limit what i can do.
