First "people" shoot

So I usually only do nature and landscape photography but a good friend wants me to attempt taking photos of his triplets for their 'one year' photos. I told him I would do it but a few weeks earlier so he can have a backup plan if it doesnt work out.

I guess I have a few questions since I'm
Dipping into a new genre. I will be using a 7100 and have the right lenses. I don't have a speedlight flash or whatever they're cAlled but we will be outside in the early Morning sunlight.

Is there a specific setting when shooting people in the sunlight that the camera should be on? Do I need addtl equipment? Is there certain post-processing techniques I should be using? Any advice at all from the experienced crowd?

Thanks!!

Shoot at a high enough aperture so that all three kids are in focus. Borrow some dolls in advance and practice. Children are hard enough to shoot so trying to get three at once is harder. Get some sort of reflector like a white foam core poster board and have someone hold it to reflect light on to the kids for fill light. Try to find a place where there is not harsh sunlight directly on them. They will be happier and less squinty without the sun in their faces.

Those questions can only be answered with trial and error...Every situation is different..Light changes constantly outdoors..I would practice, research, and practice again...If you understand the Exposure triangle, that will be the most important thing to have nailed down in this situation...All the rest is something you will just have to learn by doing it..
