A little background to me: I have always loved photography and desired to have a "real" camera instead of a Point and Shoot. I messed around with manual settings with my Canon powershot SX100, which I bought for a trip to Peru just out of high school. That was over 10 years ago and that camera served me well, but I quickly realized that if I wanted to take my photography more intensely, then I would have to get a DSLR. Fast forward 10 years, a wedding, and 5 kids later I was still without a DSLR camera that I wanted. My wife has known about this desire of mine for a while. Last week was my birthday, and we were finally in a place where we were able to purchase one, so she got it as a surprise for my birthday! I was ecstatic. She got me a D5500 with the 18-55mm kit lens. I have been studying up on exposure, and playing around with settings. The D5500 is my first DSLR and I had the opportunity to try it outing to Circle B Bar Reserve in Lakeland, FL. I only did small crops to these photos, and most were shot using manual. These are a couple of, in my opinion, the better photos of that day. Let me know what you all think!
