This is a quick report on my daughter's camera. I got it for her earlier this year, but she hasn't really used it that much due to the weather. We sat down this morning and looked at a bunch of shots she has taken since the weather has cooled down. I must admit that I am impressed with the resolution. I don't know if it's the lack of a low pass filter, or what, but they seem very sharp at 100% magnification. Of course, this is the same sensor the D500 uses, and that has a great reputation for a wildlife camera. She's slowly getting used to the new menus and features, but tech isn't her strong suit. If I hadn't picked up a Z8 earlier this year, I might have had to think hard about a Z50ii for myself. I would like to take her camera out with my long tele and see how the AF compares to the Z8. It has all the same object detection and tracking features, not sure how other aspects of the camera affect the ability of the AF to lock and track. There are a ton of features on this camera that previously where only available on the Z8 and Z9. Things like 3D tracking, pre-release capture, high JPG fps rates etc. The biggest down side is that she is not getting great battery life. I haven't had her go through the menus to optimize battery life over shooting preferences. I know I made a change or two on my 8, that I had to switch back because I was running out of battery too quickly. Of course, a quick battery change takes care fo the issue. Just make sure to have a fully charged spare with you. The bottom line is that I believe that this is a great camera for the money.
