I'm impressed with the images I've seen come through the 18-140mm lens, but haven't gotten my hands on one yet. That was the lens I was debating with before I made the decision, but the fixed aperture and FX format where what won me over. Consequently, I thought the 24-120 was a big step up in IQ for me, but having not compared both directly, it could just be me WANTING to see better IQ from that lens.
