Well seeing as you made it so enticing :D I'm very much a beginner in photography. My biggest frustration has been working long hours and not having much time to get out with my camera (I live in Scotland and it rains pretty much all year round!). So I decided to grow, I need to work with what I have. My challenge I have set myself is to learn something new every month, get the basics on the theory and then put it into practice by experimenting to let it sink in. So that's the background. So right now I am trying to get a handle on setting a pre-set white balance. I know that the white/gray cards are pretty cheap to buy and thought I could spend the next few weeks experimenting with setting this myself using the cards. But there seems to be a bit of conflicting information out there as to whether to use a white or gray card and then the debate over the 12% vs 18% gray. I would welcome any thoughts on this. I am going to have to figure it out for myself for it to be worth anything to me, but it would help to get the card(s) first and I am not sure what to be looking for.
