The more I learn about WWI the less I understand it. That war was slaughter on an industrial scale. Compared to modern warfare with bullet proof vests and unmanned drones, it's almost unfathomable the amount of wholesale death those poor soldiers had to endure. This year marks the first year we celebrate Veterans Day without a WWI veteran alive to honor.
