Hey guys.

Question for you all, does anyone suffer with eye focus when using their D7100 ?

I have took 288 shots today and I close my left eye and put my right eye to the viewfinder and after taking all those shot my left eye is still blurred.

Do you guys get this ? is there an easy fix or something I can buy to help ?

Cheers.

Weird. See your eye doctor. I'm right handed but use my left eye to the viewfinder ... I've been out many times taking hundreds if shots in a day, and I've never had an issue with either eye. Having said that, I don't need to always close my right eye either.

Oh great, I was hoping this was a common thing.

Even driving back in the car when I was done my vision was really blurry from closing my left eye tight, damn if I don't get this sorted its gonna be hard to continue to take pics :(

By tightly, I think your causing the issue.

You don't need to close your eye tight. What you're trying to do is simply focus on your right eye. See if you can do that leaving your left eye open. If not, try to use an eye patch to cover your left eye rather trying to keep it tightly closed.
Practice closing your left eyelid gently, enough to block out a great deal of light, but not so that you're squeezing the lid.
Practice gently over a period of days. Don't push it. Slow and easy. Should work, as this is gentle training.
Meantime, you're blurriness should recover quickly overnight with some rest. If it doesn't, see your eye doctor.

Cheers Partick, it has got better since I got home, it sure was hot today, maybe some dehydration too, hopefully good to go tomorrow and I will try with the eye training.

Thanks :)

It might just be eye strain. Eye strain can fatigue the muscles that focus your eyes. If it persists you should go to an eye doctor and get it checked out. Blurry vision can be a symptom of glaucoma. It is most likely not that but you should get it checked out.

Is it possible that the diopter adjustment on your camera has been moved and that you have to strain your eyes in order to see the focusing screen sharp?

This is the first thing I would check. Otherwise, an eye specialist.

Thanks for the input fellas.

Well I have woke up this morning and my eyes are normal again but I do have weird eyes to begin with, the pressure in them is higher than average, my optometrist said most peoples eye walls as are thick as a car tyre which in comparison to mine are like tractor tyre, he said its just how I am made and it explains the high eye pressure, I should wear glasses but don't outside but do inside the house.

The scrunching of the eye tends to blur my vision so if I can combat that I think I will be alright, the straining of the eye muscles makes sense to me.

Thanks for the advice everyone :)

I generally do not close the left eye shut when viewing through the right eye, it is just not required. I use the Veiw Finder for framing only and depend on the AF for focusing, that relieves me from straining to get the right focus. When I use manual focus, I depend on the range finder rather than on the image sharpness, as my power with spectacles is such that the visible focus is off from the actual focus.

Screwing an eye shut for extended time will strain it and you may not get proper focus with the eye, till it has had time to relax. That is one of the reasons that the EVF in modern cameras, and the large waist level screen of MF cameras make for a strain free focusing.
