July 25, 2017 is the date I come up with when Nikon originated (internet search). Since today is their 100th anniversary, I'm wondering if the shirts will be released for sale today.
I think you meant July 25, 1917. And yes, I get that. My point was if today is 100 years, how was 1948-1998 a 50th anniversary if 1967 would've been the 50th?
Likely because the Nikon 1 was the first official camera of Nikon and the namesake of the mirrorless compact today.
Point being, their anniversary products lack context to anyone except Nikon history buffs and therefore come off as a convenient way to pricehike product one offs. Like, stamping 100th anniversary on a graphite grey moulding justifies a several hundred dollar adjustment...
