Elements help please

Done something daft and i dont know what,when using elements my curser used to match the tool i had chosen,now its a cross no matter what tool i use.

Yes some times the cross may be handy.

Another problem,have loaded a picture into elements the same as i have done 1000s of times, now loads of my options from the drop down menus are greyed out and not available,cant use any layer options and most of my filters are not available.

Sorted i think i must have a gremlin,it had changed to 16 bit which does lose you loads of options.
