I know most of you do not speak German, but below is a link to the original version of the timeless Christmas hymn Silent Night. Even if you do not speak the language, you can appreciate the beauty of the words, an uncommon thing for German, which it is a very guttural language and when I spoke it for a while in country my throat is sore for a week.

You are right about that; speaking German is like imitating a couple of dogs barking. ;)

My local dialect contains a large potion of German (sounding) words which makes it a bit easier to speak real German.
