It finally happened... After many attempts to stir my wife's "interest" in photography with the D3100, and her answering with a "not my thing", a situation has risen for which she would like a nicer photograph when it can't be scheduled for me to shoot (which I help with as often as I can). With that in mind... the words came out... "Can you show me how to use your old camera so I can grab a couple of pics tomorrow?" CRASH COURSE! I discussed aperture mode a bit, set the format to RAW and the ISO to 200 (she said she was shooting outside), showed her where the shutter speed was and discussed the lowest number she should see in the viewfinder, and I set her free with the D3100 and the 18-55mm. Half press focus, full press shoot, check the shot here... with shooting in RAW, I was fairly confident that I'd be able to help her get what she wants at the end of the day. Later... she called to say, "I'm shooting inside instead, what do I do?" ::what:: Look for the "green camera symbol" and GO AUTO!
