Eventually the first lens I bought for it is my Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 (FX). It is terrific and works on both my D90 and D610. Tamron now makes a 24-70mm f/2.8 (FX) with their version of the vibration reduction, and it tests very well for sharpness. There's nothing wrong starting out using 3rd party lenses as there are many excellent ones from which to choose.
