Do you use a lens hood or not

If I'm outside, I always use one with the exception of my 14mm which is too wide for one. If I'm inside, I will only use one if there is light hitting my camera/lens. Otherwise I tend to leave them off indoors.

99% of the time on the lenses that have them. My 18-55 didn't come with one. I have debated on getting one for it too, but haven't done it yet. On the other lenses about the only time I don't have one on is when I grab the camera for a rush shot and leave the hood in the reverse position.

It depends. With petal lenses pretty much all the time. My 500mm has a very deep hood, so if the light outside begins to fail, i'll take it off to grab as much light as possible

I noticed a few people take them off when having a filter on. What is the reason for this?

Some people who use a CP filter can't get their fingers inside to rotate the filter so they opt not to use a hood. I simply remove my hood, adjust the filter, then put the hood back on. One exception is when using a step-up ring with a larger sized filter. Usually a hood won't fit over the larger filter.

WHAT DO YOU DO?
I watch a lot of videos on photography almost every day to learn as much as I can. I have noticed that many of the people in the videos leave off the sunshade when shooting. Myself, I use my lens hoods 100% of the time to keep out extra light and to help protect the lens. The one exception to when I leave it off is the rare time when I use an on board flash that would give me a shadow in the lower section of my photo. I am curious as to how often others use their lens hoods.

The only time I don't use my lens hood is when I'm shooting with a CPL. Other than that, the lens hood is always on.
