I subscribe to Outdoor Photography, I generally recieve a year's subscription as part of a birthday present :)

I work in IT all day, so just sitting and reading from pulped wood makes a nice change - Plus the photography locations articles are good not just for photography, but walking dogs!

Outdoor Photography, or Outdoor Photographer? I get the two mixed up, and think I ended up with the latter after searching for the former...

Photography, Charlie - I don't think Outdoor Photographer is available in the UK. I really do like the Outdoor Photography mag though, some good tips and articles, and like I say, it gives 8 or 9 locations with maps etc every month.

New Yorker (but just for the articles)

Lol! Isn't that what guys say about Playboy? ;)

For me: Popular Photography (I snagged a $5 subscription via Amazon) and Consumer Reports.

I have a subscription to PhotoLife, but it was a gift to me. It's an okay magazine and features local talent. Though, i would have never subscribed to it myself. For something really specialized, i suppose a magazine would be nice. However, it seems you can find just about anything on the interweb these days. I like books, but i have gotten into ebooks lately and i am seeing some of the benefits of not having to buy more shelves, lol. Magazines are certainly nice to read, along with a nice cup of coffee, but they only end up in the recycling bin afterwards. I much prefer going to some of my favourite websites to read or get information.

Only one, Fretboard Journal. It's a high quality guitar magazine done the way it should be, few ads, high quality paper, in depth stories and wonderful photography. It's the most expensive subscription I've ever had, but I'd rather pay for great content than get something cheap that limits story space for more ads.

With the death of Herbert Keppler my interest in photo magazines waned. I did some time with Popular Photography, then Shutterbug, but now I am down to a free subscription I got to Outdoor Photographer, a magazine I never even picked up on the newsstand before. I'm glad I didn't pay for it. While these magazines have always been mostly ads, they at least tried to separate fact from hype by hiring good, knowledgeable writers. It seems that now they hire professional rah-rah boys to hawk the latest and greatest from whoever's paying the bills that month.

If I want to read a magazine I usually pull out an old copy of Modern Photography. Them were the days, I tell ya...

That is a quality magazine.

When I was in the business, all I had was Bass Player magazine. Same drivel over and over again, and the biggest advertisers got the most coverage and best gear reviews.
I still have a few years worth boxed in my basement, never opened.

I'll pick up a Photo mag occasionally when I see one, just to see what new gear they tell me I can't live without, and articles to tell me everything I'm doing wrong.

No more subscriptions.

When I was in the business we didn't even have Bass Player. Probably saved me a ton of money on GAS (or is that BAS?!). ;)

Running Times, Audubon, and my wife gets Triathlon. Years and years ago I subscribed to Popular Photography and Modern Photography. I tried Outdoor Photography for a while a few years ago, but didn't stick with it.
