Dear Nikon's santa,

This is what I would like to get for next year's X-mas.

I would like to get a full frame Nikon mirror less camera. A camera that will have the same sensor-lens measurements that you have now. A camera that will accept all my present Nikon lenses and will use them at full aperture with auto-focus and metering. I would be happy to get a camera without the mirror slapping around and for that I'm ready to accept an Electronic View Finder.

It might be also great if you'd make a crop camera with same capabilities.

I hope to see my dream come true next year.

I'll be good in the meantime. :)

Oh by the way Santa, make it in a d800 body, Expeed 4, dual slot, 51 pt AF and the whole works but not too pricey.

I'm beginning to wonder if EVF are cheaper than a mirror assembly with the pentaprism. If they are, I don't see why Nikon is not jumping on this train. As much as I kind of like the Sony, I can't justify replacing my lenses or using them with an adapter that would make them manual (read, focus, turn the knob to close the aperture, then shoot). Plus, Sony-Zeiss lenses are a little or a lot on the expensive side.

I'd be ready to get a new Nikon if it would use my present lenses without loosing the auto-focus and more the auto-aperture measuring.

Dear Santa:

ISO 5 still has it's uses. Some of us would like to see it in a DSLR. Not everyone needs ISO 16,000,000,000,000.

And more than two piddly User settings would be nice. Maybe not all of them on the Mode dial, but accessed through the Menu.

Oh, and the ability to NAME files in the camera. I'm sure an elf over in your IT department could write it into your firmware in about half an hour.

Don't you wish you were a passenger on one of these two JetBlue flights?

I like the FF mirrorless idea, heck I'd be happy with DX. Please make a pancake lens like the Pentax 40mm 2.8 to go along with it.

PS.:

What is so impossible about a camera that can connect wirelessly to a smart device? You know.... Androids and iPhones? So we can actually work the camera remotely, NOT just actuate the shutter?

Plus, GPS should be standard AND built in, not some expensive little dongle sticking out of the side of the camera that is totally useless in the field.

Mirror-ed or mirror-less, for me is less important than the fact that the sensor used in both, full frames and dxs should significantly improve, so that we (Nikonites) wont be ashamed when our cameras get compared to Fuji's X100s, XE and XM in terms of ISO performance/level of noise... So, Santa Nikon should stop teasing and shilly-shallying by launching "new" model which differs from the previous one only in terms of having GADGETS added (e.g. D5100/5200/5300...) while using virtually the same sensor and "remaping" it's pixel count to deceive the noobs...

It does seem odd to me that Nikon's GP-1/GP-1a is so bloody expensive, when there are several aftermarket alternatives that are so much cheaper, with no apparent loss of function. I have a third-party GP-1 knockoff that I got via Amazon for $50, compared to about $300 for the genuine Nikon item. I've never tried the Nikon unit, but I have a difficult time imagining that there is any way that it can work any better than my $50 knockoff.

But yes, having it built in, as on the D5300, is a very good idea. As it is, with my D3200,if I want to have my pictures GPS tagged, I have to install the GPS, and wait a few minutes for it to get a lock. The connector sticks out too far on the side of the camera for it to be anyway close to feasible to just leave it on the camera all the time as I would otherwise prefer.

It is strange that I never felt looked down with my cameras especially when compared with Fuji. I have a Fuji X10 and have tried the Sony versions too, their AF is not the best in town either.

Get a Nikon Df. It currently has the highest score in low light shooting situation. I have passed the "my camera and lenses are better than yours" stage. I will be more content if I get to shoot more frequently. Some people can debate all day and talk about stats from Dxo, that's just not me. Getting to shoot at my leisure matters more. Getting pressured on a paid gig isn't fun either.

Dear Santa.
I'd like the newest sigma 50-500, but I would settle for a decent used or new 150-500 or a nikon 80-400.
Ive been good all year... except for all the injuries I have endured... but that just means I deserve what iI a asking for. I could have asked for the 24-70 and the 70-200.. but I am being nice. :
