As much as I like my D800, I really wish the shutter wasn't so darn loud and clunky. Even on quiet mode the shutter is overtly loud. While my D7000 was having its mirror box replaced due to oil spots (big thanks to my local Nikon rep for comp'ing me for this work. I've read that Nikon officially does not recognize this as an issue and generally does not do it for free) I played around with a D5200 loaner body. The camera is okay, nothing to write home about however the shutter noise is wonderful. It has a very smooth, high-tech shutter sound that I was hoping would be replicated on the D800. Sadly, no. The D800 shutter is keeping with the long tradition of the Nikon recoil effect and may help explain some of the "softness" I read about on-line. I'm curious, do others with the D800 feel the same way about the shutter noise? Or is it just me?
