D800 has killed two lenses... maybe

Just an update, both lenses are back from service. I've been shooting with them all week and they seem to be as good as new.

As mentioned before the Sigma appears to be a known issue, potentially from a bad batch. People which have had this issue typically never have an issue again after repair. The Nikon 50mm came back from service with a report saying they opened the lens and re-seated the af motor and cleaned it. Two very different issues.

So it looks like the D800 wasn't to blame in the end.

Great update and I'm glad that your issues with the lenses was resolved. Your situation was definitely unique and requires Nikon service center's expertise to solve the problem.

I have a same issue with the D800e,I bought a Sigma 150-500 lens and after 2 days of shooting with it the AF doesn't work anymore. After searching the internet i found out there was a recall on the Sigma 150-500 in the UK.
so my assumption was it must be the lens.

thx Bert

I have same issue and just get the camera back. Per shop repair lady, Nikon repair center readjust the focus setting on both lens and D800E. It is function well now and keep my fingers cross. However, for my 17 -35mm f2.8 len, it has been treat it as manual len since the U S Nikon repair shop wants $500 US. Any suggestion??
