[QUOTE="markandersh, post: 825216, member: 53674"] I just bought my D7500 this past Saturday and I'm getting used to it after using a D5300 for a decade. The idea of BBF intrigues me. If the D5300 has it, I never realized it (I'm just a hobbyist). My question is: IF the camera is on a tripod and nothing causes the point of focus to change (no camera or subject movement), even if you don't hold down the button (whether the AE/AL button on the back or the shutter button, won't the camera remain in focus once you've focused, or do you always have to keep your finger on that button, right up to taking the picture? If the shutter button focus is turned off, does it make a difference for needing or not needing to hold down the AE/AL button? I had originally thought that the idea of BBF was to allow you to acquire the target of focus separately from pressing the trigger but also being able to release the shutter without touching the camera when you have a remote trigger: compose and focus then release the shutter without risking jiggling anything.
