Once again I experienced the shutter ERR message. When I started this thread, initially I thought it happened because of leaving the VR on. It happened again today--first shot of the day just like when it happened previously, but my VR wasn't left on accidentally like before. I used the camera a few nights ago, loaded all the images onto my computer, and reformatted the cards in camera. Today I mounted my Nikon 105 VR lens while the camera was OFF and made sure the VR was also turned off BEFORE mounting it. I turned the camera on, set some trial settings, and pressed the shutter. The camera took the image but locked the mirror up once again. The viewfinder was black. Toggling the VR switch on/off didn't do anything so I turned the camera off then on again. When I pressed the shutter, the mirror came down. When this happened the first time, turning the camera off then on then pressing the shutter didn't resolve the problem like it did this time. Both times this happened, I only experienced it with the very first shot I took. Not sure if this is related to the problem @Blacktop is experiencing with his D750. My shutter count is only 2962. I rarely use Live View, Quite Mode, or MUP, and certainly wasn't this time (and haven't for quite a while). Here is an unedited jpeg that was only resized for the forum. My 2nd slot is jpeg which is where this comes from. This will allow you to see the EXIF data. I've never installed any camera firmware either. Any suggestions to try? EDIT: And I was in Aperture Priority both times this happened.
