d7200 not displaying settings in the viewfinder

hi all,

I'm not sure what happened, but before this issue arose, I noticed that the settings displayed in the viewfinder were partially missing. After a couple of weeks, they completely disappeared. Now, I see red lines in the corners of my screen. Can anyone help me with this?

As you can see in the picture, the viewfinder is empty. Usually, the ISO and aperture settings are displayed there, but if you look closely, a bit is shown, although it's not very clear.

Hi,
It likely needs to go to Nikon for a repair. I did a quick search on the net, and one person had a similar issue that had to do with a connection inside of the camera. I don't know why the framing grid would suddenly appear if you didn't change a setting. I doubt a reset would do anything since it isn't a setting that would cause the display to go away. It couldn't hurt to do it, though.

You might want to give Nikon customer service a call to see what they say.

Good Luck.

Welcome!

The viewfinder information is displayed from a board inside the view finder and that may require replacement.

There are two other thing that you could try.

1. Two button reset.

2.
Not sure if this is relevant to this make/model, but on Canon body, I was able to reset things by doing the following: 1. Switch off, 2. remove battery and card 3. switch on 4. Hold down the shutter for at least 15 seconds 5. switch off 6. re-instal battery and card 7. switch on and keep your fingers crossed.

It worked for me and cleared unusual issues I was having with it.

This was apparently a suggestion from a technician in one of their factories and was not widely known in the public domain. It makes you wonder if this is what they do when people send their cameras in for a repair costing a fortune:confused:

Try what Needa wrote above for #2. Peter7100 first shared it with us. I was experiencing an electrical issue with my shutter actuation button after being out during snow (the lens stopped focusing). However, BBF worked fine for focusing but not when using the shutter button to focus. I didn't want to spend the money sending it in to Nikon for repair.

When Peter shared this, I decided to try it. And it's been fine ever since! So it can help some electrical issues.
