Message: <blockquote data-quote="yauman" data-source="post: 250110" data-attributes="member: 15418">Yes, your on camera flash HAS to go off- it's how the camera communicates with the SB700 in remote mode.  It's a weak pulsating flashing - like morse code and is not strong enough to contribute to lighting up the image but enough to communicate with the SB700.  Also,note the side of the SB700 with the little red window - that's the receiver and it must face the direction of the camera to work.  Also, if you are using the setup in as fill-in flash in bright daylight, it may not fire as the bright sunlight may overwhelm the signaling flash of the onboard flash.</blockquote>
