You sacrifice the magnesium alloy materials that the Nikon one has, but if you can get past that then it's a good option (at least in my experience).  As for batteries, I own one third-party battery and it won't communicate with the camera when it's in the third party battery grip. However, it works just fine when in the D7000 batterly slot.  My Nikon battery does work in the battery grip though.</p></blockquote><p></p>
