D600 nose dive

I would be very surprised if it comes back in the same condition. I've heard from a fellow Nikon guy whose 7100 bit the dust in similar fashion and Nikon service USA fixed him up fine for the same $304 quoted to me.

If I can take consolation in any of this, it's that I didn't even see it happen. I will be reviewing the video tomorrow, but my wife won't let me make the bartender pay for it, even if I prove she did it because wifey tells me I shouldn't have left my stuff in her bartender's way. Damn, that's cold (but probably right). Doesn't she look guilty?

Sorry to hear of your misery.

I dropped my d7100 and it cracked the top case, similar to yours but I couldn't tell right away. Camera worked OK except for my "d" style lens.

Turns out to be a cracked circuit board and few plastic case parts. Quote was similar - $340. Actual repair once approved was less than 3 business days, and it was out of the Southern Calif repair center. Great people and service. Can't tell they ever worked on it. I also met some really great Nikon owners while at the repair center.

BTW, what brand of beer was it and if I told you I love you man would you give me a free beer? :)

That bartender may be guilty but she's too good looking to make her pay.

I'm not proud to say it but welcome to my club. I wouldn't be surprised if they return it back to you unrepaired.

First of all, based upon the evidence in this photo, she's obviously totally innocent of causing the damage to your camera.;)

Second point is why do you care about the camera, for gosh sakes, your wife owns a bar.

And finally, where is your wife's bar and what is it called?

Bugger mate, sorry to hear about your camera. I think I will hurry and get camera insurance for my cameras as I am bound to drop mine sometime.

sorry about your loss :( I would be heart broken if mine breaks. Adorama sold me three year Mack diamond warranty for $209 including 28-300mm lens when i bought this. Now i am glad i have it.

I hope urs gets repaired for less :)

Just wondering, does anoyone have experince with mack camera's warranty? they are supposedly in business for a long time. are they good?

Thats why when I will buy my next camera it will be with mack diamond vip warranty. even if its your fault (not done on purpose) they will repair it free. hottie that wife of yours:)
$300 is not a great price. its a lot of money. better $0 but you have to pay for the damage. and I would make him pay part of it.

my friend buys it for every camera he buys. his D3 shutter died 680k clicks and they replaced it. they got much better.

Was it replaced with a new or a refurbished camera? Thanks for any info as I am not familiar with the Mack camera warranty.

no, camera was not replaced. the shutter and mirror was replaced. if you want an all risk type warranty, egt the diamond vip one. the regular mack is just an extended kind but does not cover impact or even damage you caused (purposely or not) diamond covers it all. worth the money and if you plan to work with the camera, I HIGHLY recommend it. cause the shutter will die. its not if but WHEN. it always does. and shutter itself will cost more than the warrantgy so for the same money youre also covered for impact as well. cheers. also with diamond, if you bring the item 3 times for the same problem, they replace the camera or lens or whatever..

oh and it costs $150 for the mack diamond for the D600. better than the $300 he payed for the damage. and its for 3 years. its a no brainer guys.

Mack 3 Year Diamond Warranty, f/Cameras, Lenses & Lighting up to $2000 1311 thats for US, they also have an INTL one.

well yes..of course. no one lets you buy warranty a year after. its a known thing. thats not a downside to it. $150 is NOTHING for all risk warranty on the camera. op says $300 is a good price for the repair but crap id rather pay $150 and get complete protection no matter what and 3 years warranty!! $50 a year!? there nothing to talk about here. its a must buy. I think they offer 5 years as well. for me though, 3 years is fine as ill probably upgrade by then. I work with my gear. 150k shutter rating is nothing for a wedding pro. ill hit that within a year and a half.

I was simply pointing out that many people have existing gear they'd like to insure so this example isn't an option for them. I pay $66 a year to cover $4k in gear through a rider on my homeowner's insurance. (USAA) It's worth a phone call to your insurer to see if they have something similar.

you are right, many people insurance well after they buy it. and since I dont buy new lenses I can understand. cameras though is something else. I believe it must be bought new and insurance bought at the time. but my needs are specific as a pro.

$66 a year for $4000 worth is even better. is that an all risk type? what is insured if a camera breaks? impact, water, theft..? just curious. what is a rider? you mean add "extra" on to your home insurance?
