D500 Lossless compressed photos not recognized by Lightroom

Hi all, I'm hoping you can help me....

I got my D500 yesterday, and today took it to a National Wildlife Refuge to try it out with my telephoto and macro lenses.

I had the camera save the files as Large, RAW, lossless compressed files. I also had it use the SD card as backup to the XQD card.

After getting back tonight, I first tried to merely use the SD card in the laptop card reader to download the files, then open them with Lightroom. Lightroom said there were no previews available, then a box came up that said the files were "not recognized by the raw format support in Lightroom (819)"

Thinking maybe it's a problem with my SD card, so I broke out the transfer cable and downloaded them from the camera. Same result, same message.

What am I doing wrong? I've gone through the manual, and it says practically nothing about how to get the files out of the cards/camera.

Help would be most appreciated.

...and I've already ordered a card reader, but I don't think that's the problem here.

Thanks

Thanks so much!

I guess I should have known this somehow, but somehow I missed the memo.

You saved the day for me!

You're welcome.

If you don't mind, I would love to get (sure there are others too) a couple of raw photos at high ISO between 1000-6400. Doesn't matter what they are of, just want to see the noise level and I would like them to be from a regular person and not put out by Nikon.

I am considering this camera but I want to know how it does at high ISO first. Because of file size you will need to dropbox them if you're up for it. Thank you and please share your impressions of this camera.

Sure, I took quite a few test shots in various ISO's when I first unboxed it. Do you want the .NEF or .DNG files?

Thank you very much for the files. Didn't really matter to me one way or the other as to format. What are your impressions and what were you shooting with prior to the D500?

With your permission, may I put an image up from your dropbox offering. I'm very impressed with ISO noise level and would like to show people what I was able to do with you ISO 5600 image after a quick noise clean up and masking.

No worries, feel free to post them.
I love many aspects of the D500. I'm not sure any single one of them was worth the price of that upgrade (as compared to a D7200 or D610 for instance). It is a tremendous upgrade in ISO performance. However, if that were the only thing I was interested in, a D610 or D750 might have been a better deal. But the fact that you get that performance in a DX format (no new lenses required), is pretty sweet!

On the other hand, if you look at the camera, in total, I'm very happy with it and it's potential. The ergonomics, the performance, all of the newest "bells and whistles" (like Bluetooth and WiFi); all make it worthwhile for me and my application. I'm extremely satisfied with it, but I'm not sure everyone would be as happy with it. I get that.

Personally, my only complaint so far, is the lack of support in LR5 for the NEF format. I feel like I'm being railroaded into subscribing to LRCC. I'll probably start looking at other photo editing software as an alternative to LR. But I'm not sure there ARE any viable options at this point....
