I wonder if there is something inside the new batteries that can detect non-Nikon firmware in the 3rd party lenses. Too bad you don't have one of the older EN-EL15 batteries to replicate the same scenario to see if the drainage occurrs at the same rate. I know the older EN-EL15 batteries already have their own problems with drainage when paired with the D500 so it wouldn't be an accurate test overall, but it does make me wonder if Nikon is forcing its customers to use that specific new battery because of something different they've put inside them.</p></blockquote><p></p>
