It rarely comes in A, except when the light is extremely low. It comes often in S mode, to indicate that the camera cannot open the aperture more (beyond the maximum for that lens). If it comes in P mode then the flash should pop up automatically. If there is a P mode with flash inhibited then it will always flash the message in low light</blockquote>
