Hi, i only made this account for this particular question which i don't even know how to ask google, but its a really painful problem.

Whenever i watch my videos from the 3100 hooked up to my computer, it copies the file and places it some hidden random location, its eating all my SSD space.

anyone have any idea how to locate these files so i can delete them?

Cheers. also probably wrong sub category. issue.jpg

The simple solution would be to download, install and run the free version of CCleaner which will delete all those temp files and a lot of other garbage off your hard drive. Be sure you get the FREE version, it's all you need.

CCleaner should take care of the problem.

I'm guessing that you could possibly do a search for files created on xxxxxx date (the date you watched the movie). Also make sure all files are visible.

As you have the file name (DSC_0126 MOV)

Open search on your PC and type in the file name, and it will show you where the file is.

if u r using windows, bottom left corner do a search ".mov", that should list where you mov files have been placed.

A better alternative is to actually download the files to the computer yourself before you watch them. That way you can set the location yourself. Create a folder for them. This also will same battery and usage time on your D3100. Also this way you can start editing or uploading your movies to youtube or other online sites easier.
