This tree is claimed to be the largest gum tree in Tucson, AZ.
There is an interesting story about these statues. The original artist made a promise in WW1 while he was wounded on the battle field that he would dedicate his talent to God. Originally he used sand and local materials to create these statues. The water would come down the river and wash them away. He would redo them. Finally the city and catholic organization moved them to higher ground. More of the story is on the plaque in the last photo.
