Considering Lightroom/Photoshop

I had considered Corel PaintShop but reviews are making me reconsider. Therefore I'm looking at Lightroom/Photoshop but I have some questions.
Q. Does anyone know if I can download a trial version without using Creative Cloud? I don't see any need for me to use the Cloud.
Q. Are there any issues with LR/PS and Windows 10? The program will be put on our desktop, not my laptop.
Q. Anything else I should be aware of?

I shoot everything in RAW and had been doing done basic processing with View NX2 until the stopped working problem developed (as per my other post). I could see myself getting interested in more advanced editing if I had a program to do it with.

Thanks,

I don't believe or know of a trial. However, if you get the CC you can end it at any time. There is no locked in commitment.

No issues with Win 10.

Nothing to really be aware of. However, the two programs do many of the same things, but they are quite a bit different. LR is easier to learn when starting out. Photoshop takes a much greater learning curve, but gives you God power where LR is a Demi-god. Many people find LR does what they need without having to invest so much into learning PS.

The Adobe CC plan for photographers (Lightroom and Photoshop) does have a free trial.

It is by far the best photo editing software made and is what everyone else compares themselves to. At $10 a month it is the way to go. Yes you can still buy Lightroom as a stand alone program but it does not have all the new features and will not. That is reserved for the CC versions. With CC you will always have the latest versions.

I think you are confusing the 'creative cloud' suite with 'the cloud' or whatever they call it. You can use the creative cloud photography suite without ever using the cloud storage. Just turn off the file syncing. It might even default to OFF, I don't remember. No need to ever upload or sync any pictures to the cloud. With cc, you are just renting LR and PS and get the cloud storage if you want. I've never even looked at the cloud syncing.

You should be able to get a trial. I think the trial is the cc version, but it can go either way if you end up buying the standalone rather than going cc. Let it run out to the end, its like getting a free month. Read the signup offer carefully. I have seen two different cc offers, cancel at any time or cancel and owe them 50%.

I was resistant to renting software, but now I'm glad I got it. Not bad to have LR and PS for $10/month.

No issues on win 10 here.
