He was always in the chair by the door to the coffee shop I delivered. We would say hi to each other and say a few words. Gene wasn't around for a few weeks and I knew he was going to the VA for tests. I finally saw him at the coffee shop a few weeks ago along with an oxygen tank. I asked what's with the tank. He tells me not to worry the doctors said he would only need it for a few months. Which I knew meant that's how long he had. He decided not to go through Chemo.
