Never had the Carry Speed sorry, but I can comment that my BR strap squeaks. It's one reason I don't use it anymore.

I have only tried the Black Rapid, but I love it. A better improvement would be to add a pouch on your right hip that the camera lens would go into to keep it steady when hiking, but you could still pull the camera up to eye level pronto.

I have not tried the Carry Speed. I've had a Black Rapid RS Sport to for about a year now, never squeaks. This style of strap is great, I highly recommend one, which ever brand/style suits you best.

i have friends using both BR & Carry Speed.
The folks on the BR fence are satisfied, if not overly joyous..
it serves the purpose but leaves a bit of a void here and there depending on people's choices.
But the response to Carry speed has been phenomenal..
haven't heard a single rant, in fact they talk so much about it, it's almost like they want to sell one to me :)
I have neither btw

I've had the carry speed for over a month, I really like it. The squeak is very minor. The plate that comes with it is really good. It is arca-swiss compatible so it will go right into that style tripod. If your QR is not arca-swiss compatable, the plate has 6 holes to mount your QR plate without any other adapter. I really like the ability to "snug" the camera up higher if you like.

This style strap is great for event photography and short hikes. For longer hikes where I would be hiking quickly or climbing around I would use my holster. This type of strap allows for a lot of camera movement if it is not snugged up or you have your hand on it. I have the same CS in the link and have ordered the pro pad (extra wide) for when I have a heavy lens on.

I use the Sun Sniper strap, but the Black Rapid RS-7 was a close contender when I was shopping. There were a few extra features that sold me on the Sun Sniper: steel cable sewn into the strap for security, and the bungee cord shock absorber...which makes carrying a gripped D300s w/ 70-200mm bearable for long periods of time.

That Carry Speed strap looks too gimmicky to me. The ball head attachment seems like it would be weak, and you want the point where the strap attaches to the camera to be the most bulletproof part of your rig. I also don't like all that clip business right in the center of the chest, that would get irritating after only a few minutes of wear I would think.

What did you decide on? This is one of those what we have is the best threads :). Which, of course, is the Carry Speed!

Well the Carry Speed site is down. Says under construction for the last 4 weeks. I have heard great things about the strap and terrible things about their customer service. If you search carry speed fail in your search engine, you will see there have been some instances where the ball head or the fastener have failed. You should always have a safety attached, especially if you have a longer lens or heavier DSLR.

I bought a cheap strap to tide me through the fall. I hope the site is down because they are redesigning their product. Seems very strange though!

Stay tuned
