Seems like there would be more risk to damaging the card and possibly losing the pics due to static electricity (or some other misfortune). I may be a little "overprotective" of my pics, but I prefer to not touch that card until I've downloaded the pics into my computer and backed them up elsewhere. I use lightroom to import from camera via USB cable. Works fine . . . even for 500 pics (in RAW) I don't think it's too long.
