OK, I currently have Niko D200 with come decent lenses but I want to add but not sure which way to go

Current lenses are
Nikon 18-55
Nikon 55-300
Nikon 50mm f1.8
Sigma 50mm macro

Im considering the Nikon 80-200 f2.8 lens but wonder if a better upgrade would be changing to the D7100

I normally shoot wildlife, landscape or close up

Any thoughts on this.

I believe you will get more out of the lenses you currently have by mounting them on a D7100.

Your 55-300 more than covers the range of the 80-200.

While the 80-200/2.8 is a very good lens (I own one) your 55-300 should produce excellent photos for you.

Looks like finances are dictating choice. Bought the Nikkor 80-200 f2.8 and I'll have to save for the d7100. Sometime layer in the year hopefully . Thanks for all the advice

I would suggest the D610. You will get much better low light performance with FF, and in case you want wide angle for landscape you need not buy ultra wides, as 28mm on FX has nearly the same FOV as 18mm on DX, and the MF 28mm F2.8 AIS is one of the sharpest 28mm Nikon has produced.

Some may argue that with DX you get "extra reach" with telephotos, but in my opinion cleaner shots at comparative ISO will get much cleaner crops.

Looks like a compromise has been reached.
Couldn't justify the additional cost of the D7100 after buying the 80-200mm f2.8 so I managed to get a D7000 at a very good used price with a 12 mnth warranty

So I get the D7000 and the f2.8 lens for the cost of a new D7100 and I think the D7000 will suit me just fine

Arrives today so I'll be busy playing with it for the rest of the day :)

Nice score!

And i know it's late in coming...but the D610 would have been roughly the same MP as the d200 in DX mode. Heck the D610 gives my D90 a run for its money in DX.

But the D7000 is nothing to sneeze at either. Sounds like you made the right choice for you. Happy shooting!
