Cancel Automatic Flash?

I can find no setting on mine where it puts a line through the flash symbol other than in Auto mode ( Amateur mode)

I dont see any use for the built in flash as its in the wrong positon for portrait shots and usually hits the lens causing a great shadow even with a 20 mm sigma.

OK if you want to trigger a remote flash ....

I hear you! I got caught in this trap as well. Your not the only one.

Does anyone know why there is no flash CANCEL option?

Thanks,

Michael

If you switch away from AUTO mode, you need to manually press the pop up flash release button to enable flash. If not, it is default in no flash mode. But you have to move away from AUTO mode for that to work. You can try P mode, which is quite close to AUTO mode, but you get to set the ISO yourself.

so we have established that there is no need for a flash off mode

If you use auto you have the on off option via dial.
In all other modes the display in the viewfinder flashes to ask you if you want to flip the flash up otherwise it does not work ...

Any serious photographer 1/ does not use auto 2/ has a flash fitted to the shoe with an on /off switch...
