Buying d610 advice

Hi all, new here so apologies if I've posted this in the wrong section.

Was looking for advice and was wondering about anyone's personal preference regarding my purchasing dilemma. I am looking to buy a d610 second hand at £720 with 50,000 on shutter count but the rubber eyepiece is missing, or another d610 second hand at £800 with 20,000 on the shutter count with eyepiece present....obviously the £80 saving is attractive and I can source another eyepiece however I was just looking for some advice on what another person in my position would consider the best deal....obviously there is no right or wrong answer but hoping I can make a decision soon. Both cameras are in great condition, very minor cosmetic bumps, Sensors clean. Etc

Any advice is much appreciated. Thanks :)

Hi There & welcome...

Assuming that you are in the UK (as the prices you gave are in GBP) then neither seems that good a deal. You can buy one of these brand new (although grey import) for £839 and that includes a 3 year (third party) warranty.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for your reply.
The D610s I mentioned in the last post also have a 6 month warranty, just to add :)
I had noticed grey imports were very attractively priced however other forums/sites users have been very discouraging with regard to grey import and it scared me off a little.
Have you any experience of grey imports yourself or any reputable dealers? Just curious as would like that to be an option to consider. Also, do you know if photographic repair shops would look at a grey import for servicing or a repair if required? I've only ever bought new UK market cameras so feel a little out of my depth.
Thanks in advance :)

Grey market only implies that you would not have any support from your national representative. This is not to state that your local dealer would not be able to assist you with any repairs should something happen. You are still getting the same product without the support. So whereas if you purchase a UK based product, the increased price is based on the support that goes along with that said purchase.

With items like the oil spotting of the previous D600 a grey market camera would not receive support from Nikon UK.

The only grey import that I have bought is a 18-140mm lens that I got from HDEW Cameras, who are based somewhere in London. They were very easy to deal with; I did so by phone, but I cannot believe that it would be any different using different technologies. This company certainly seems to have a godd reputation and get lots of positive feedback.

I bought my D7100 from HDEW and it is a grey import. HDEW have a very good reputation, were easy to deal with and offer a 3 year UK warranty on camera bodies. I wouldn't hesitate buying a new grey import D610 from them over a used D610.
Nikon D610 Body £839
Panamoz are also good from what othe Nikonites have said but I haven't dealt with them personally.
Panamoz Nikon D610 DSLR Camera (Body Only) £865
