I got this one in from Amazon today. I loaded my D7100 with 18-140 on it and played. When I first moved it to the portrait position it did slip. Then I realized that there is an adjustment for the tension and after adjusting it a little I could put it in any position I wanted to and it would stick with no movement. Also I have RA so my hands give me a lot of problems and the grip was not a problem to release. There are two bubble levels on the base . They are the circle kind that show level in every direction. There is also a standard bubble level up by the camera base to get that level. Going out Monday night shooting with my camera club so it will get a good test that night.
