Buyer beware

I bought a copy of Microsoft Office off EBay two years ago and installed it on my laptop and it has run without any problems. I bought a new laptop and sold the old one so I uninstalled from the old one so I could reinstall on the new one. When I tried to install, I got an error message that the product key was invalid. I called customer support and gave them the key. I was asked where I got the software and told them EBay. They told me I, and others, were sold developers copies which were not to be sold. When Microsoft found out, they blocked the product key on all the copies. Since it's been two years, I am basically out of luck on getting any money back from ebay or the seller. Lesson learned about buying software from ebay at greatly discounted price.

Bill,

Unless you really, really need MSOffice you should look at Open Office or LibreOffice both are open source apps. They are about 90% the same as except for some features an example would be the spreadsheet it does not put the $ sign to the extreme left as an accountant would want. Other than that it will do power point, office docs and excel type spread sheets and a big plus it does not have the bloat.

I agree with Lou. Take a look at LibreOffice. It is open source and does not cost anything. I have been using it for a year and a half without any problems. It will even let you open, create, save, and edit files in MS Office formats. LibreOffice is available OS X/Windows/Linux platforms.
