I use the fast cards and trust me they do not help increase the fps. If you dispute this just go and try it yourself. You will get 6 frames then the slowdown.
As someone who uses burst mode a great deal for sports and BIF this cameras buffer is an issue.
To your other comment, I do not find the multiple images to be a pain at all, this is where you get that perfect shot that you may not otherwise have gotten while waiting for a buffer to clear. I have captured an eagle for example swooping in to catch a fish and shot 50 RAW frames in 5 seconds with the D4 and this was just enough to get the entire sequence, The D7100 would not have been able to do this. I am not trying to compare it to the D4 of course, just an example of how the buffer limits you. BTW, I have switched from the D4 and FX format to the D7100 so I am not bashing this camera and I have just changed my shooting style to match the limited buffer. It is an otherwise great body.
