Message: <blockquote data-quote="snaphappy" data-source="post: 191650" data-attributes="member: 12198">Thanx.  As you probably can tell we have a small hobby farm so death is a part of life but pets are still very hard.  Max was my shadow he rarely left my side and since he was so tall and me so short I didn't have to reach down to pet him he was just there and happy to be petted all day long.  In the kitchen he wasn't allowed to stand and wave that giant tail around so he'd lay down in the middle of the floor and so not doing giant steps over him back and forth as I prepared meals yesterday was very strange for me.  I really mean it when I say he rarely left my side so losing my big huggable shadow is very hard.  He had a fall though and his back hips just refused to work anymore.  He'd didn't like having hubby and I carry his 130lbs around and help him up to go to the bathroom so he refused food or water and gave up on me.  I allowed him to go but I refused to watch my friend fade away so the vet came out and he's laid to rest out in the field with his best bud, my 1st horse and the 3 cats I raised since kittens and lost in the past year at age 15, 16 and 17yrs.  I'm grateful to have had such a huggable loyal shadow in my life and glad to help him leave with his dignity <img src="data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7" class="smilie smilie--sprite smilie--sprite1" alt=":)" title="Smile    :)" loading="lazy" data-shortname=":)" />  It's so sad that our furry friends live such short lives compared to us but the joy they bring us is worth the sorrow when they pass on.  Now to try and enjoy last days of summer before school starts, take lots of pics and I'll have lots of pics to go through when monsters head back to school and I have quiet moments to play on computer again <img src="data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7" class="smilie smilie--sprite smilie--sprite1" alt=":)" title="Smile    :)" loading="lazy" data-shortname=":)" />  Northern lights through the clouds last night, lots of lightning and rainbows (even one during during the pink evening clouds) I haven't gotten to have a look at yet <img src="data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7" class="smilie smilie--sprite smilie--sprite1" alt=":)" title="Smile    :)" loading="lazy" data-shortname=":)" />  Lots of great skies this summer</blockquote>
