Bogen 3047 quick release plate

I have a Bogen 3047 tripod head, and the cork on the quick release plate has come loose. I can peel off the cork and am wondering what the best type of adhesive will be to mount it again. When I use it now, my lenses swivel when the head is switched to the vertical position so I need to fix this to ensure the cork won't come loose.

I also want to replace this quick release plate, but I'm not sure whether it is the 1/4" or 3/8" size. Supposedly the USA standard was the 1/4". What am I supposed to be measuring--the screw that gets inserted into the camera? It actually looks to be slightly narrower than 1/4". Here is a link with what looks to be my plate: 3047 head

Any ideas for glue to replace the cork on my current plate and what size plate I need for a replacement? Thank you!!! :)

Ah, I was wondering about that cork and how well it would stay on. Do you know why they even put that cork in the QR? Is there a feature to the mount that uses the cork? If this were my QR and the cork kept coming off I would use something like super-glue or another similar type of clue. But knowing how cork degrades with time, after clueing the cork on I would be keeping an eye on a potential new QR to replace this one because it's only a matter of time before the cork will be gone.

The cork keeps the bottom of the camera from being scratched by the metal QR plate. I've ordered 2 replacement quick release plates which should arrive next week. It looks like the newer plates come with either rubber or plastic rather than cork.

I wound up using super glue. Fortunately the cork wasn't dried out--if it had been, I'm afraid the cork would have absorbed way too much of the glue. I tested it out this morning using a D600 with my Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8, and I put the tripod head into its vertical position. I even gave the camera a slight push to see if the cork would withstand the weight, and it wouldn't budge. I'm just glad replacement plates are still available so I can keep this one as a back-up! :)
