Blackrapid wrist strap - short review

I've used the wrist strap each time I've been out with my camera. The strap does give a lot of confidence that the camera isn't going to slip from my grasp & it is completely out of the way from the camera controls & operation. Attaching is quick & easy, although the rubber washer makes me feel that long term it may become harder to tighten. For that reason, I leave the strap connected most of the time.

On walkabout, the strap makes you carry the camera in your hand & less likely to put it in a case. After an hour, I do start to feel the weight of the camera, but the camera is at the ready for a shot at any moment. I find this very convenient. In warm weather, my wrist had some sweat under the strap, but it was not too uncomfortable. Wearing long sleeves, the strap was almost invisible, which I liked.

Leaving the strap connected, makes the camera a little unsteady after a shoot when leaving on a desk for instance, as it does not sit flat. I find this to be the biggest inconvenience. Also, I now realise why they make a nylon coated tripod screw as the metal tripod screw & metal connector can rattle as they knock together. After use, removing the strap is a little awkward as I am using my left hand, whilst still holding the camera with my right hand. The best way I found to get out of the strap was to wriggle my wrist around, while supporting the camera with my left hand.

Quality of construction is very good & I felt it to be worth the money. The strap is smaller than I expected & overall I am pleased with my purchase.

I've had this strap since November and use it frequently. I usually set my camera down on the side to leave it stable.

Love my BR Wrist strap. It's all but replaced my sling strap (still have it, rarely use it now). I attach my wrist strap carabiner to the strap lug on the camera body using a split ring, though, instead of using the tripod socket. This way, I can keep the fingers of my right hand curled around the body of the camera, which keeps everything under control, and the camera sits level when I set it down on a flat surface.

Mine stays on all the time and pretty much has since I purchased it. One of the best accessories that I have purchased, next my L-Bracket. I also just picked up the Blackrapid Lockstar Carabiner Protector, this gives you a little more added protection and so far I like it. As far as the blackrapid straps, I use the tether kit that attaches the strap lug and the other end I attach back to the Carabiner. It gives me two points of attachment in case one fails.

I've used mine a few times. Great for crowded areas where you might get bumped and loose grip of your camera. I ordered one from Adorama first, but they were back ordered. So I got one from B&H. But, I forgot to cancel the order from Adorama. Now, I have another on the way! I also connect mine to the strap lug.
